The Académie de Paris takes place in the Lycée Notre Dame de Sion, in the 6th arrondissement. For 4 weeks, students in grades 9-12, are taught by academics from leading universities such as the Sorbonne and Ecole normale supérieure, by professional artists and practicing clinicians. They choose two courses - a Major and a Minor - from a myriad of options including every level of French, academic immersion courses in French, or academic and creative courses in English. Theses interactive courses, coupled with a full calendar of program activities – including field trips to Versailles and Vaux-le-Vicomte - enable them to safely immerse themselves in Paris and French culture. Our curriculum has been designed to introduce students to French and Parisian culture and society no matter which academic subjects they select. Our fundamental ethos is to make Paris accessible to all students, regardless of their fluency in or knowledge of French, thus ensuring their experience of this foreign culture is an inspiration, not an ordeal. Each class is taught by a gifted, caring and innovative teacher and, year after year, the result is a dynamic blend of classroom learning and on-site experience. With most classes incorporating exciting daily field trips around Paris, students are transported far beyond their normal school curriculum.

These are the elements we bring to each day of the program. As a result, whether they are specializing in Law, Architecture or Creative Writing, our students all learn something about such topics as the history and geography of Paris, the norms and nomenclature of French cuisine, the current political scene in France and across Europe, and the ethnic and racial makeup of modern France. All students have the opportunity to hear guest speakers ' including journalists, authors, professors, musicians and artists ' discuss many aspects of French life.

Coupled with this is our daily program of guided, mostly elective visits to all the places that a person living in Paris for a month should not fail to visit. Some will seem obvious - a tour of the Louvre, a full ascent of the Eiffel Tower, a visit to Notre-Dame Cathedral, a stroll around the Latin Quarter, and more. But others may seem less typical, such as a historical walking tour of the Jewish Quarter in the Marais, a descent into the Catacombs, an avant-garde exhibition at the Centre Pompidou, or a serene cruise down the Canal St. Martin.

Ultimately our goal is to create a shared pool of experiences and memories and to ensure that every student has a thorough, coherent and exhilarating introduction to Paris.
