The Academia de Barcelona is a program for students interested in studying in English or in Spanish in one of the world’s most vibrant and exciting cities. La Academia takes place in the Residència Josep Manyanet, in Les Corts, an affluent neighborhood of Barcelona. For 4 weeks, students in grades 9-12, are taught by local researchers, academics, and artists. They choose two courses - a major and a minor – which are taught either in English or in Spanish. Theses interactive courses, coupled with a full calendar of program activities – including field trips to Girona, Figueres, and Montserrat - provide them with an unrivalled introduction to Barcelona, Catalonia, and Spain. Today, Barcelona is at the cutting edge of European culture and one of Europe's most visited cities. It is famous worldwide for its stunning architecture, five-star cuisine, countless museums, and bustling, colorful streets. With all this, our students also have an unmatched exposure to Spanish language and daily life. They come away with a new sense of the world around them and all the possibilities that international study brings into view.

All of our courses - from Architecture to International Business to Global Medicine - are designed to introduce students to new subjects and skills. As much as possible, classes venture out into Barcelona to see and understand their subject in an immediate and tangible way. We put students in small classes to study exciting and engaging courses conducted by lively and imaginative teachers with Barcelona as a classroom for all.

Our extracurricular program maintains a healthy balance between study and leisure time that allows students to relax and unwind. To that end, the Activities Directors organize a full daily program of elective social events and sports. These typically include dances, quiz nights, talent shows, movie nights, cinema trips, and poetry readings, as well as other options. On site, students have access to a gym, tennis courts, and basketball courts. Our sports program includes soccer, basketball, yoga, fitness classes, and jogging, as well as trips to local beaches. Our Activities Directors plan these events and supervise them, ensuring that students can truly make the most of every available opportunity.
